Being fit has numerous benefits. If you look and feel good, you tend to do more and become more passionate about life and the people around you. Sure, when you’re in a relationship, you would want to spend time together - probably trying out all the new food hubs in town. You could be exploring the exotic yumminess of street food in the neighboring city or indulging in that scrumptious dessert from a well-known restaurant in your place.
Aside from cuddling, eating is perhaps the next favorite activity of people who are in love. What better way to express your love than to share some calories and a few pounds, right? Nevertheless, exercise and healthy living should become one of your priorities as a couple. A strong and lasting relationship is like a fitness goal - you need to work on it, train with your partner, and endure together. That’s why we dedicated this post to every couple who wishes to stay healthy together and individually.
Creating a Fitness Plan for Two
If you have no idea where to start, begin by planning. Sit down, talk about your lifestyle and create goals together. You’ll be doing the activities together but it’s important to have a unique goal individually. After all, ladies don’t need too much biceps and men don’t really want skinnier legs. The emphasis here is the word “doing together” to make it more fun and motivating. Why not go to a gym date night and a good healthy dinner after? It’s always fun trying something new after all.
Sticking to Your Fitness Goals
Once you’re finished creating a plan and setting individual goals, you need to develop a routine on how to track your progress. Otherwise, your fitness plan might just become another date activity. What we want to do is really see some results in a month’s time or less. Keep each other on track by sticking to healthy snacks and meals. Don’t buy junk food from the grocery. And after each achievement, don’t forget to complement each other. You’ll always need that extra push.
Finding a Healthy Hobby
Another thing you can do while trying to be fit is to incorporate your hobbies with your goals. If you usually spend your weekends binging on TV series then replace that with something physical, such as running or walking. If you’re already the outdoor type couple, then you might want to try Crossfit or rock climbing - anything that would help both of you shift your attention from coach potato-ing. As you change your routine, you’ll also notice how it changes your mindset and emotional well-being.
Staying Supportive!
Getting fit is not an easy task but it sure is one of the most rewarding and life-changing experiences. You’ll subtly see that in the process of improving your bodies, you’ll also improve your relationship. How? Well, trying new (and challenging) things together always brings out the best (not to mention the worst) in each other. The key is in being supportive and keeping each other motivated. You’re not in competition with your partner, rather you are in this fitness goal together.
Your partner is your best accountability buddy. No one will ever cheer as hard as your better half. So stay grounded in that thought every time you feel like giving up in your fitness plan. It might get hard as you go on but you just need to keep your eyes on the prize. For more articles on date activities and fun ideas, check out our other posts. Be sure to share them to your friends!
